Description: Sustainable Remediation Roundtable

On October 22, 2014, The Horinko Group hosted its second Sustainable Chemicals & Materials Roundtable.  The roundtable comprised a group of stakeholders from government, private industry, non-governmental organizations, and other interested parties and provided a forum for discussion on the opportunities, challenges, and existing efforts underway for reporting on chemical and material contents through working with suppliers.  The roundtable provided a unique opportunity for mutual learning, information gathering, and sharing of views among a diverse group of seasoned stakeholders.  Proceedings from the discussion will be available soon.

Description: American Bar Association (ABA) Section of Environment, Energy, and Resources (SEER) Conference

The American Bar Association Section of Environment, Energy, and Resources held its 22nd Fall Conference from October 8-11, 2014 in Miami, FL.  The conference included a panel titled Environmental Accidents: Nuts and Bolts for Counsel in Times of Crisis.  Marianne Horinko, President, The Horinko Group, moderated the panel with speakers Mark Farley of Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP and Walter Mugdan, Director, Emergency and Remedial Response Division, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Region 2.  The panel discussed environmental incident preparedness and response as well as enforcement.  The same experts reprised their panel as a webinar on November 18, 2014.

Description: Oklahoma Brownfields Conference

The Oklahoma Brownfields Conference took place in Tulsa, Oklahoma from November 5-6, 2014.  The conference featured a keynote speech by Marianne Horinko on the past, present, and future of the Brownfields program, drawing from her experience as Former EPA Acting Administrator and Assistant Administrator of OSWER at the time the Brownfields Law was being developed and passed.

Description: Environmental Health Safety and Sustainability Roundtable

On November 20, 2014, Marianne Horinko delivered remarks at the Environmental, Health, Safety, and Sustainability (EHSS) Corporate Roundtable.  The roundtable was composed of senior executives from major corporations convening to share information and experience on sustainability, social responsibility, environment, health and safety problems and programs.  Presenting along with Stephanie Fiorenza, Technology Specialist, Remediation Engineering of BP, Ms. Horinko’s remarks focused on sustainable remediation and the opportunities it poses for improving the economic, social, and environmental outcomes of contaminated site cleanups.

Water Resources Action Project: 2014 WRAP Up


The Water Resources Action Project (WRAP) has concluded another successful year of installing, maintaining, and planning for rainwater harvesting and environmental education projects in the Middle East.  WRAP’s Year In Review provides all the latest updates on current projects from the group’s most recent trip to the region, highlights of major milestones from the past year, and a look at what’s on the horizon for 2015.
